Title: The Athletic Model Guild Sweeney + Williams Index Card

Date: 1955 to 1960

Photographer: Bob Mizer (March 1922 – May 1992)

Estimate: $500-$800

This vintage beefcake index sheet features Sweeney and Williams, photographed by Bob Mizer for the Athletic Model Guild (AMG).

Originally created as a practical catalogue, the index sheet allowed customers to preview available models, poses and photographic sets before ordering prints. Produced at a time when openly gay imagery was heavily censored, Mizer’s photographs were presented as studies of physique, fitness and masculine beauty.

For gay men, these images offered rare and affirming representations of male beauty, desire and identity. Today, AMG index sheets are important cultural artifacts that show how queer expression survived and circulated despite censorship. Their influence can still be seen in modern queer aesthetics, making them an essential part of LGBTQ+ history and culture.

This scarce original AMG index sheet, is a must have for any queer collector.
